A few days ago, I stumbled upon my Finisher's Certificate for the St. Jude Half in 2007 which I completed in a time of 2:12:24 (10min/mile). I remembered that I had achieved that time after only two very short runs the previous week or two. Three weeks later, Roy and I ran the Blues Half in Jackson, MS, and I finished in 1:52:51, which is a pace of 8:37 - significantly better than the previous. That was after three weeks of dedicated training. I feel confident that after three months of training, I can whoop that pace come December's St. Jude. And from there, I only hope to improve with tentetive runs in Jackson and Birmingham, all about a month apart from each other.
I am very excited about getting back into running. I am ready to wear some miles into my new shoes. I hear it's a good idea to record your runs, and I think it would could be motivating to look back and see how much I have run over any given period of time. That is the purpose of this blog. Feel free to leave encouraging comments, and advice.
